Program Outline

Sita Reservation #A43880

(Agler Group 2025 IT3)

As always in Africa, Subject to Change—but it should pretty much go like this:

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10 | FLY to AFRICA

  • There are lots of ways to get to Nairobi JKIA airport but the direct flight from New York’s JFK via Kenya Airways may be the easiest from the US. Use your miles, your points, whatever. Just get here!

DAY 1 | MONDAY, AUGUST 11 | ARRIVE NAIROBI

  • Karibu—Welcome to Kenya! You will be met at the airport and transferred to the Tamarind Tree Hotel.

  • Rest from the flight. Meet your fellow participants. Have lunch. Some light afternoon exploration of Nairobi will include an up close and personal giraffe encounter. Time permitting, we will visit the Karen Blixen Museum as well. Back to the hotel for our welcome dinner and a good night’s sleep. (L,D)

DAY 2 | TUESDAY, AUGUST 12 | NAIROBI

  • Good morning Africa!

  • We will visit the Talia Agler Girls Shelter, learn the story of how it came to be, and be welcomed in heart-warming fashion.

  • It is the custom for those who visit TAGS to bring a gift of themselves, i.e., something to teach, a game to play, a way to dance. Anything really. Details later but this will be a highlight for one and all. (B,L)

DAY 3–4 | WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13 and THURSDAY, AUGUST 14 | SAMBURU

  • Depart Nairobi as we make our way to the renowned Samburu Game Reserve. Along the way, we’ll have lunch at the Trout Tree restaurant in Nanyuki.

  • We will check in to the Samburu Sopa Lodge, for the next two nights. Our wildlife safari begins in earnest with game drives each morning and afternoon. (B,L,D)

Yes, they get that close.

DAYS 7 and 8 | SUNDAY, AUGUST 17 and MONDAY, AUGUST 18 | MASAI MARA

  • We drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve which will be our home for the next two days, with game drives each morning and afternoon. In between, we will relax and enjoy the resort and all it has to offer. We will stay the next two nights at the Masai Mara Sopa Lodge—in the reserve itself!

  • By this time, we will have likely seen most if not all of the “Big Five.” (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Rhino) and more! (B,L,D)

DAY 9 | TUESDAY, AUGUST 19 | NAIROBI

  • Morning Transfer to Mara airstrip for our Air Kenya flight to Nairobi Wilson Airport (8:15am-9:45am).

  • On arrival we will visit with friends at the Nairobi Hebrew Congregation (est. 1904) and learn about Jewish life in East Africa.

  • We drive to nearby Githurai to meet with some of TAGS’ older beneficiaries at the CDTD Vocational School. This visit will give us a first-hand understanding of the impact that the program has on the lives of the girls.

  • It’s time to head home. We check into day rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn (8pm check out) and take our transfers to JKIA Airport for departure flights (or other connections for those staying on). (B,L)

  • Filled with priceless memories we say, for this time, KwaheriFarewell Kenya!

You may also wish to arrive early, stay late, or arrange visits to other countries in the region. Our travel arranger, Natalie Lee of Sita Tours <Nataliel@sitatours.com> is at your service to help coordinate any pre-trip or post-trip add-ons.

  • After lunch and a stroll on the beautiful grounds, we’ll shuttle to the unique, and well named, Ark Lodge, for an overnight experience unlike any other. (B,L,D)

DAY 6 | SATURDAY, AUGUST 16 | LAKE NAIVASHA

  • Morning departure to Lake Naivasha, with a stop at the Equator en route. [A special luncheon with some of our Kenyan friends is pending.]

  • Afternoon tranquil boat ride on the lake. Keep an eye out for the hippos! We will check into Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge for the evening. (B,L,D)
